SAM ROCKWELL will be honored with a special MVFF Tribute Program, featuring clips from his career and an in-depth conversation, followed by a screening of Wild Horse Nine, and preceded by an earlier screening of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, another Martin McDonagh film starring Rockwell, whose performance earned him an Academy Award®. Born in Daly City and raised in San Francisco, Rockwell began his acting career in the late 1980s, including winning a role in Last Exit to Brooklyn (1989). Since then, he has established himself as a prolific actor, comfortable in both indie fare like Box of Moonlight (1996) and Hollywood vehicles such as Galaxy Quest (1999). Among a handful of his career highlights are Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002), The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005), Moon (2009), The Way Way Back (2013), Vice (2018, Best Supporting Actor Oscar nominee), Jojo Rabbit (2019), Fosse/Verdon (2019, Outstanding Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Emmy nominee), Richard Jewell (2019), and The White Lotus (2025, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series Emmy nominee). Wild Horse Nine is Rockwell's latest collaboration with writer/director Martin McDonagh, after the Broadway production of A Behanding in Spokane (2010) and the films Seven Psychopaths (2012) and Three Billboards.
